Community Car Scheme

Community Car Scheme (CCS) is a Door-To-Door Transport service for elderly and disabled people resident within the London Borough of Brent. In order to use this service the user needs to meet the eligibility criteria set by the council.

The service requires advance booking subject to availability of drivers and vehicles on a first come first served basis.

Applying for the Community Car Scheme:

The process of new applications for the Community Car Scheme (CCS) services from 1st April 2015 will be dealt by LB Brent, Concessionary Travel Team (CTT). As with any other concessionary travel scheme an assessment will be required and the relevant eligibility criteria will be applied. All other concessionary travel schemes are accessed through LB Brent, CTT team and therefore it is appropriate that the CCS service is also accessed in this way to ensure that all of LB Brent residents have equal access to the services that they are eligible for. Community Car Scheme (CCS) Service Extended

We are pleased to inform that BCT will continue to be the provider of the Community Car Scheme for the next 12 months. The service will continue to operate as normal with all existing booking procedures remaining the same. We would like to thank London Borough of Brent for their support in continuing to fund the scheme through a service level agreement.

Community Car Scheme (CCS) Extension.

BCT will continue to provide the Community Car Scheme (CCS) for a further 12 weeks (until 12th September 2016). This is in line with an agreement with the London Borough of Brent. Service Users will receive service updates accordingly from the council. Contact us if you need further clarification.

Community Car Scheme (CCS) as part of a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with LB Brent.

London Borough of Brent (LB Brent) have extended the existing SLA with BCT for delivery of Door-to Door CCS transport services to 31st March 2016. Therefore the CCS services are open for bookings by eligible registered users as per same Terms & Conditions as before. Please note that LB Brent will inform and update all CCS users regarding the extension.

Joint Statement from LB Brent & Brent CT

Dear CCS users,

Please note that in order to ensure that LB Brent obtains the best quality and value in services it procures, the CCS service is currently out to competitive tender. This process will conclude in August 2015. You will be informed in good time by the London Borough of Brent if there are any changes to the service as a result of this. For this reason, based on the possible upcoming changes no advance bookings will be taken by BCT for 1st September 2015 and onwards.

From the 11th of June the following changes will be made to how you can access the BCT Community Car Scheme:

  • In order to allow all users equal access to the service all users will be allocated maximum of 10 journeys (5 return trips) per month. The trip allowance can be rolled over from one month to the next but cannot be rolled over to a third month.

  • You can make up to 2 short notice cancellations per year.Any additional cancellations will be deducted from your trip allowance. A round trip will only count as one cancelled trip.

  • Reasons for cancellations and times of cancellations will be monitored and if they are due to the CCS car arriving more than 15 minutes late then you will not be penalised for this. Please assist us by completing the cancellation form if the driver asks you to.

  • The application for CCS will be made via the LB Brent Concessionary Travel Team. Through this CCS users can be made aware of all the transport options that are available to them. Also, all registered CCS users will be seen by the LB Brent Concessionary Travel Team over the next six months to ensure that they are able to access all transport options that they are eligible to receive.

  • All other conditions of the service remain the same.

  • CCS will not become a subscription service from 1st April 2015 and there will be no nominal fee of £12 per year per user.

  • The journey fee will remain at £2.00 per journey for the first ten miles and a charge of 75p per mile thereafter, effective from 1st February 2015.

  • The CCS booking line will continue to be open between 9:30 - 13:00 and 14:00 - 17:00 (line will be closed during lunch break 13:00 - 14:00).

  • The start time to access the service will begin at 8:00am and the last return journey homeward bound pick-up will be 10:30pm, 7 days per week, subject to availability of drivers and vehicles on a first come first served basis.

  • The earliest advance bookings to be accepted will be 5 weeks prior to the actual appointment, subject to availability of drivers and vehicles on a first come first served basis.
