BCT DOES IT AGAIN!

ALL GOES WELL THAT IS PLANNED WELL. A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO ALL

JESUS HOUSE ANNUAL OLDER PEOPLE'S CELEBRATION AND DINNER

It has been 11 years since Jesus House has entrusted Brent Community Transport (BCT) in providing the transportation for their BIG annual "Older People Celebration and Dinner" held at their headquarters. The operation of collecting over 302 vulnerable and disabled people and their carers from 21 care homes and day centres spread across three boroughs and take them to and from Jesus House is an experience from planning, organising, managing and through to execution. Getting it right is so essential in making a wonderful day out a pleasant and rewarding success in every way for all involved.

A vital aspect of the operation is gathering accurate information as possible so as to align the appropriate bus and the drivers. Each year BCT work closely with Jesus House Organisers by contacting each of the homes directly, this enables us to finitely and meticulously plan to mitigate any unforeseen channellings.

Good clear communication and acquiring the correct information such as the number of wheelchairs users, are they transferable, other mobility issues are the key elements to providing a well-executed plan. We have to rely on the information provided by the coordinators at the various homes as they know their clients best. On the day things are not always as presented but BCT and their partner CTs assisting on the day are always very flexible and accommodating to ensure that any hiccups don't become a barrier to a potentially successful day out.

We also acknowledge many CT's willingness to support us in this venture and to demonstrate positive PARTNERSHIP working. This year on the day, five CT's were engaged in this endeavour using 25 accessible vehicles and one large coach. It would be very remiss of me not to convey appreciations to all staff members who sacrificed their Saturday off to do whatever was asked them, to the other CTs and their staff members (drivers) as well which contributed to the day being such a success especially for those older elders and people with disabilities.

Another Summer Success!!

Our buses have been running back and forth on trips to Bournemouth and Kew Gardens. Day Centres, Community Groups and Residents have been able to enjoy days out at these wonderful attractions and although it has not been the brightest of summers for us, they were all lucky enough to have the sun shining! Brent CT are pleased to announce that we have successfully received two new accessible minibuses from the Department for Transport (DfT) Community Bus Fund. On Monday 13th February we held a launch to celebrate the arrival of the buses. Mayor of Brent, Councillor Parvez Ahmed, James Coe from Community Transport Association UK (CTA UK) and services users of BCT came along to support the launch and also take part in discussions about our sector and moving forward. Brent Bowlers strike again!!

On the evening of 16th February we had our annual staff social event, a little earlier than usual but following the fire at East Lane Business Park we felt it was important to get everyone together sooner and recognise their hard work and commitment over the past four weeks. As always, the competition levels were high and it was no surprise to see our Chair, Moses and CEO, Siamak battle it out (again).

Another successful year working with Jesus House!

Every summer we work with a local faith group, Jesus House to deliver transport for over 300 of its disabled and elderly members to attend a banquet at their headquarters in Cricklewood. The planning stage is intense but yet again it all paid off as the overall delivery was a success. On Saturday 13th August our operational staff and drivers were all geared up and ready to work hard to ensure the day went to plan, they were also treated to a lovely lunch at the event (thank you Jesus House). We would also like to thank our neighbouring CT's Westway, Harrow and Barnet for their input on the day in order to meet service provision.

BCT's Annual General Meeting

Dear Members and Friends, Sincere thanks for attending our AGM. The event was a huge success and this would not have been possible with your support. Pictures to follow soon.
